the payment of salaries of persons in
the service of the Government of the
Colony or pensions, gratuities and
allowances at rates prescribed by law.
of persons formerly in that service;
the payment of pensions, gratuities or
allowances, and the making of grants,
at rates prescribed by law or, where no
rates are so prescribed, at auch rates as
the Secretary of State shall determine, to
or for the benefit of persons mentioned in
the foregoing paragraph, or their wives,
children and dependants whether such persons
are living or not, or, in special cases, to
or for the benefit of other persons resident
or previously resident in the Colony, or
their wives, children and dependants
whether such persons are living or not;
the making of grants to any fund or
association the purposes of which for the
time being include the assistance of any
persons mentioned in the preceding
paragraph;
any other purposes of the Government of the
Colony:
Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall
authorise the application, except for purposes
prescribed in the Currency Ordinance, 1935, as amended
by subsequent Ordinances or for the redemption of Hong
Kong currency, of any monies of the Exchange Fund
established by that Ordinance other than interest
received on behalf of the Fund on or after the
twenty-sixth day of December, 1941.
